Norm Breyfogle! I like the idea that Anarky should be like the anti-Batman, so his costume is pretty similar to Batman's only he's red instead of blue.
What would Lonnie's Anarky look like then?
I'm not too crazy about the idea of Anarky as an "anti-Batman" really, as Anarky was portrayed on Beware The Batman (of which I can see you took some inspiration from here).
It just makes him feel... awfully generic to me. As there's plenty of other "anti-Batman" characters out there (Prometheus, Hush etc.), making Anarky into one kinda makes him lose a bit of his appeal (as well as making him feel more like a mish-mash of OTHER Batman villains).
But that's just me. That aside, this is well done. Honestly the fact you used the "anti-Batman" aspect and combined it with far more traditional Anarky aspects makes this a more visually pleasing affair.
So cool! It's like the young justice version. Come join us at Anarky fans on fb and share!
Young Justice version? But Anarky never appeared in Young Justice. Unless I'm misinterpreting.
Unfortunately, that is true. But it does look like a character model from that show, the one character I would've loved to see show up.
It would have been nice to see more characters of the like on the show that is true (even though I'm not too crazy about how most of the Bat-villains were handled on Young Justice).
Not sure how Anarky would have fit into the larger scheme though. His schtick is pretty specific.
Season 2 ended with Darkseid planning something. So from there, you take bits from the Anarky miniseries, world without grow ups and final crisis. Anarky is introduced early in season 3. Noble goals, less so with methods. But when most of earth has fallen prey to the anti life equation, you have a mix of heroes and villains working together and there's most certainly a spot for the kid who makes his own boom tubes.
Eh, maybe it's me, but I can't really see how that would work out.
Anarky is too unstable to work with heroic characters for a LONG period.
That and well, all the other major characters were already foreshadowed and hinted at and already relevant to the main story.
Having Anarky come out of nowhere and essentially forcing him into a role alongside the main characters would feel... I dunno. Off a bit.
In the scheme of Young Justice, he'd be more suited to one episode (maybe two), not multi-arc.
I really do wish he had shown up in one of the episodes that did get made, like so many shows that came before, but I do think he would've been an interesting character to bounce off of and maybe something like a timeskip could work. I gotta say I miss the hat, though. It's hardly practical but I always found that part of Lonnie's charm.
Well the original Anarky's design was based with a few old fashioned radicals in mind.
Giving him a hood works better for a modern look like his Arkham Origins appearance, as he was intended to be closer to a street protestor there.
... On the other hand, since his Beware The Batman design made him an evil counter-force to Batman, there's no real reason why he couldn't have had the hat in that series.
Oh, damn...that's friggin awesome!
I always enjoyed this character in the comics as an adversary to Tim Drake.
As always your art is incredible and Anarky was one of the highlights in Origins for me so this is just awesome
