12 years ago today, november 3, 1998, one of the co-creators of batman, bob kane (robert kahn) died. bob kane's original bat-man design looked a little something like this. it was actually bill finger who came up with the cowl, gloves, and gray suit. nevertheless, here's the bat-man!

i hear a lot of controversy over how bob kane took all the credit for creating batman, yada yada yada...yeah maybe. but he still took part in creating one of the greatest characters in comic books...EVER! so in memory of bOb kane, here's a rendition of his original design. :)

=on a side note=
it reminds me a lot of tim's robin OYL suit!

Bob Kane's original design, as you've portrayed there, looks cool, but I'm glad they went with the one they went with. That could be cool as some other bat-themed superhero.

This is awesome!why have they never made an elseworlds story about this? I'd love to see someone flesh this guy out as an actual character.

Actually, he had already submitted his idea to DC by the time Bill Finger got involved, though he should recieve more credit, Bob Kane DID create the idea itself.

This shows how much Bill Finger was instrumental in creating Batman and most of the classical villians, if it were for Kane alone Batman would be more of a Robin...(which reminds me of "Superman/Batman: Generations" of John Byrne).
Although, that's all past and with both of them dead I guess what could be done is that DC should acknowledge both of them as creators, I don't know why on Earth they haven't done it yet.

i heard it's cuz bob kane's family members won't let them or something? i don't know, it's weird legal stuff. but batman has become his own thing now. he's become more important than the people who created him. O.O

Very cool. I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone do a version of this.

Attributing the whole thing to one person and painting Bob as an asshole (He did apologize later in life about how Bill never got credit too) pisses me off. It was Bob's idea, while Bill helped build on it. It was both of theirs, not just one.

RIP D:
