In the comics, Courtney Whitmore started as Star-Spangled Kid before becoming Stargirl. In Earth-27, it's the same. She started as Star-Spangled Kid then became Stargirl! :D (Big Grin) :D (Big Grin)

I wonder if her costume was inspired from Captain America.

The Original Star Spangled Kid debut around 1941, so it might be inspired by Captain America or it was because lots of superheroes around that time were extra patriotic and dressed like the flag.

Odd but interesting topic. Since I'm Canadian I had no patriotic thought in designing Lord Eagles costume. Plus I find red and black a more epic colour combo than blue and white.

Red and black are a good combo.

Now lots of people use it these days. But it's not just the colour combo, but the way they're put together. Deadpool is a goofy example that fits his style.

why the belly shirt when it looks like armour

:iconroysovitch:

Because it's armored version of her comic book costume.

Why not have a full face shield? Why not wear stealthy black? Why not enclose your hair? Why not leave the crimefighting to the police and military? It's a comic book world. These sorts of things happen.

maybe that is why S.T.R.I.P.E.S is around because the costume while protective was designed by Courtney with fashion in mind instead of actually fighting crime

SSK huh?  So many questions on this... So is there two separate characters SSK and Stargirl in the works? or is this classic SSK with the ability to grow to become Statgirl down the road as I don't recall the star rod being introduced yet?

This question is answered several times in the comments. SSK is Stargirl's "teen" persona, circa 2010-2011 of Earth-27's timeline. Stargirl is her modern identity.

Will her backpack be teched out, or just plain for storage only?

:iconroysovitch:

It's storage... for her plain-clothes and crime-fighting arsenal (like "Fireworks", her flashbang grenades) but it is an armored pack that is more durable than what high-school students sport.
